Our latest Case Study showcases a bespoke heating solution for Startin Tractors, a commercial workshop and office facility located in Twycross, near Coventry. Commissioned by Cooper Construction, a longstanding client of IMS, this project required an efficient, flexible heating system that could provide reliable comfort across distinct zones within the facility. IMS Heat Pumps designed and installed a system that met these requirements, delivering optimal performance for both the office and workshop areas while ensuring ease of use for facility managers.
The new facility at Startin Tractors needed to maintain a stable temperature of 21°C in the office areas, with the option to heat the adjacent workshops to the same temperature on demand. Given the varied usage patterns between the offices and workshops, the system also required weather-compensated control to ensure efficiency and energy savings across the year. The client’s goal was a straightforward, user-friendly solution that could be relied upon throughout the changing seasons.
To meet these requirements, we implemented a solution centered on two 50kW Clade air source heat pumps. These heat pumps supply a 45°C flow temperature through underfloor heating circuits embedded in the concrete floors. We integrated an ESBE CRC200 valve to provide precise, weather-compensated control, adjusting the heating output based on external temperature fluctuations.
The setup also included Magna 3 Grundfos pumps, which monitor temperature differentials in real-time, working seamlessly with the ESBE valve to direct heat where it’s needed most. This three-zone approach allows for energy-efficient operation, reducing energy costs for Startin Tractors while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment across the entire facility.
Commissioned in March, the new heating system at Startin Tractors is delivering significant energy savings alongside enhanced comfort for both office and workshop areas. With its straightforward controls and weather-compensated settings, the system meets the client’s needs for reliability and ease of use, while providing cost-effective, renewable heating.
