Our winning project, Stillwaters, showcases a highly innovative and environmentally sensitive approach to renewable heating. The system uses a Nuenta Ltd Energy Blade to draw heat from an underground mine-water flow, removing the need for boreholes and allowing a discreet, ultra-low-impact installation within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Pairing this with a NIBE S1155 heat pump and low-temperature underfloor heating, the solution is delivering an exceptional SCOP of 6.2, significantly surpassing performance expectations.

Winner of ‘Specialist Heating Contractors of the Year 2023’ by the Scotland Prestige Awards.

We’ve been shortlisted in the Unlock Net Zero Climate Champions Power List 2023.

We decided to nominate our customer John Taylor as we believe he is a true Climate Champion, and should be celebrated for his commitment to green energy solutions. Not only has he transformed his Grade II listed barn conversion in Matlock into a sustainable oasis, with features like his iconic, distinctive heat pump, but his advocacy efforts even reached the House of Lords, where he presented vital evidence as one of the first recipients of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. His testimony received well-deserved praise.

John has also featured in national and local newspapers like the Sunday Times and the Derbyshire Times, and his heat pump installation won the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge and John was filmed alongside Kevin McCloud from C4’s Grand Designs.

We’ve been shortlisted in the Beyond Scotland award category at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards.

 

One of our apprentice installers Sean, was shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year in the Lead Work Competition at the SNIPEF SkillPLUMB Apprentice Competition 2023.

Winner of the Green Energy Skills’ category at the prestigious Scottish Renewables Net-Zero Energy Transition Awards. The award is given to organisations who go above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition of the energy workforce. This includes initiatives supporting early careers, training and qualifications, industry standards and those either making the move from a background in traditional fossil fuel energy generation or adding to their skillset to work across both sectors through the transition.

We were selected as one of the winners of the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge, demonstrating that correctly designed and correctly installed heat pumps do work and are suitable for almost any home.

Microgeneration Certification Scheme Accredited Installer – NAP/32557

IMS Heat Pumps Limited has recently changed its name from IMS Heating Solutions Limited to more accurately reflect what we do. With the name changes comes a new MCS accreditation. Over the years we have completed hundreds of MCS accredited installations and many more have been installed before MCS existed or  for clients who are not eligible for RHI and therefore do not get registered for MCS – with numbers like this you can trust that your installation will meet all MCS standards, be eligible for the 2022 Funding for Heat Pumps scheme, but more importantly – it will work!

MCS create and maintain standards that allows for the certification of products, installers and their installations. Associated with these standards is the certification scheme, run on behalf of MCS by Certification Bodies who hold UKAS accreditation to ISO 17065.

MCS certifies low-carbon products and installations used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. MCS is a mark of quality. Membership of MCS demonstrates adherence to these recognised industry standards; highlighting quality, competency and compliance.

Heat Geek Certified – Sales & Installation

Even though IMS have been established since 1997 we are never to old to take on new knowledge. Heat Geek Mastery focusses on heating design and controls. Through the completion of two arduous training courses IMS have now got 5 officially certified Heat Geek Masters across both our Sales and Installation Teams. If we didn’t know it before, we certainly know it now!

The Awakening’ teaches the fundamentals of heating design and ‘Mastery’ which goes deeper into hydronic understanding and theory.

NAPIT is one of the leading Government authorised and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited membership scheme operators in the building services and fabric sector. IMS Heat Pumps are members of NAPIT. As a NAPIT certificated scheme member, we are:

• Regularly assessment to ensure our ongoing compliance
• Working to the very latest health & safety regulations
• Able to provide any necessary certificates to demonstrate the regulatory compliance of the work we do. These certificates may be needed if you are looking to let or sell you property and for building regulations sign-off.

Energy Performance Validation Scheme

All of our domestic Heat Pump designs are independently validated by EPVS. Once we have agreed our contract with you, your system design is assessed by this independent body. A certificate is issued with each verified design providing clients with peace of mind knowing that our bespoke, MCS compliant designs are providing accurate performance and savings information.

If you’re looking to buy products which can help you generate, save or store energy for your home then always use an EPVS member. You can feel assured that the installer has gone through a rigorous process to become a member and has satisfied EPVS that their documentation, provided to consumers, is up to standard. We monitor our members to ensure they are giving consumers accurate performance estimates and monetary savings.

EPVS aims to protect consumers from receiving over inflated figures from installers when making a purchase by sampling the contractual paperwork to ensure meets our certification standard.

A Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) approved Consumer Code, the Home Insulation and Energy Systems (HIES) Contractors Scheme Consumer Code is a leading consumer protection organisation covering the installation of home energy products.

All prospective members must endure a rigorous accreditation process before they can join our trusted network of installers. Once approved, they will be subject to annual vetting to ensure they are adhering to our scheme rules and code of practice.

The Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the United Kingdom. As we often remove Gas boilers, you can be assured our work is carried out safely.

The F-Gas Register is the sole certification body in the UK appointed under the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gasses Regulations 2009. F-Gas scheme was specifically designed for working with F-Gas refrigeration and heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain fluorinated greenhouse gases, in order to contain, prevent and thereby reduce emissions of f-gas.

Ground Source Heat Pump Association Member – IMSH001

The GSHPA is the focal point of the ground source energy industry in the UK. It is the voice for the lowest running cost, lowest carbon, heating and cooling system for domestic and commercial buildings and heat sharing networks. Heat pump technology is not based on combustion and emits no gases of any sort on site.

As a trade association the GSHPA brings together over 120 members and interested parties from across the ground source industry to develop a strong, dynamic and sustainable environment for heating and cooling systems that are based on heat capture, heat storage and heat transfer, including heat sharing networks and demand side management.

To this end they are regularly in touch with the Committee on Climate Change, BEIS, Ofgem and other trade associations.

Using a Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF) Licensed Plumber gives you peace of mind that you are choosing a plumbing business which uses properly trained and qualified operatives.

Green Heat in Greenspaces (GHiGs) Advisory partner

Green Heat in Greenspaces (GHiGs) is a project within the overall ParkPower programme that builds on previous research. It brings together half of Scotland’s councils together with a wide range of public sector bodies to explore how urban greenspaces can support a Scottish low carbon heat transition. GHiGs is focused largely on the low carbon heat pathway of electrification whether through more locally dispersed solutions or those based on wider District Heat Networks.
